This next band hails from sweden, and while there are a shitload of shitty melody-ridden “death” metal from sweden, this is far from it. Cult Of Luna plays what some call “post metal” or “post hardcore” or “Sludge” or whatever. All I know is that it’s pretty freaking awesome. Other bands in these genres worth mentioning while we’re at it is Neurosis, Pelican, Russian Circle, to mention a few. Oh, and Isis.
Cult Of Luna formed in Umeå, Sweden in 1998. They parted from the remains of a hardcore band called Eclipse. There are 8 members in the band, and they sure sounds like it. Heavy and disturbing as #!%#!.
The album I’m posting here today isn’t an album at all. It’s a limited edition vinyl 7″ single. Limited. Well. Eye of the beholder, etc. It was limited to 1000 + 500 copies, and since Cult Of Luna is a HUGE band with a HUGE fanbase, you might call that limited, but there are other great bands who doesn’t exactly consider 1500 copies limited, but I digress.

Cult Of Luna – Bodies/Recluse VLS
01. Bodies (Smashing Pumpkins-cover)
02. Recluse (Unbroken-cover)
Given free when you purchased the album “Somewhere Along The Highway” from any UK indie record store. Limited to 1000 7” copies.
This was also sold on tour with Cult Of Luna limited to 500 copies with complete artwork (hence different version).
I love these two tracks with their original bands also, but Cult Of Luna really makes these two songs their own.
Best regards,
That Vulture
