Dies Irae is the sixth studio album by the rock band Devil Doll, released on February 1996. A concept by Mr. Doctor, is inspired by the life and music of George Harvey Bone, the poems of Edgar Allan Poe, Emily Brontë, Emily Dickinson and Isidore Ducasse. The lyrics contains multiple references to the poem The Conqueror Worm by E.A. Poe (with the entire final stanza of the poem reproduced almost verbatim). The sample used at the beginning “Part 12″ is from the film The Night Of The Hunter, and is the character, “Pearl Harper” (played by Sally Jane Bruce) singing.Part 18 (the final track) ends after two minutes, followed by total silence before a two minute hidden track, sometimes reffered to as Part 19.

I hope you enjoy Devil Doll as much as I do. Get Dies Irae here!

Devil Doll – Eliogabalus (1990) Rapidshare

I hope you enjoyed Devil Doll – The Girl Who Was … Death, because I was thinking I’d give you some more weirdness from Devil Doll again.

Devil Doll Eliogabalus Cover
Devil Doll – Eliogabalus (1990)

01. Mr. Doctor
02. Eliogabalus

In 1989, Mr. Doctor began the work on two compositions, The Black Holes of My Mind, a 45 minute composition incorporating esoteric quotations and subliminal messages; and Eliogabalus, a 60 minute composition inspired by Antonin Artaud’s book “Heliogabalus: Or, The Crowned Anarchist”.

In December Devil Doll entered Tivoli Studios with Jurij Toni to record a new album. Hurdy Gurdy’s budget limitations forced Mr. Doctor to cut down the two former compositions, in order to include both on a single vinyl release.

Only the Italian section, and the Slovenian guitarist Bor Zuljan, was used to record the album.

Eliogabalus was released in 1990, the shortened version of The Black Holes of My Mind was renamed “Mr. Doctor” for this release, while “Eliogabalus” retained its name.

Well, you can get the album here. Prepare for more Devil Doll soon!

Obtained Enslavement – The Sheperd And The Hounds Of Hell, Rapidshare

Obtained Enslavement Logo

This sure looks like a black metal logo to me. With not being decipherable at all, I mean. However, Obtained Enslavement hails from Stord, on the west coast of Norway. They split up in 2000, but just managed to release this gem of an album. This album is supposed to be “symphonic black metal”, although it doesn’t really remind me about the stereotypical bands in this genre. Which is a good thing.
